Family Session Guide
I personally feel it is so incredibly important to capture your littles as they are right now, because when they wake up tomorrow they'll be a little bit older mama. Let me capture your beautiful family in whatever season of life you are in- I am thrilled to work with you all!
What to expect:
These sessions last about an hour, but could be a little less or a little bit more depending on your child's mood that day and so forth! I try very hard to keep these sessions FUN! So expect lots of playing and games with your kids! I typically offer gentle posing and instructions- then allow your family to play within that. But don't worry mom and dad, I tell you what to do with your hands, where to look, etc.! Don't worry if your session appears or feels a tad chaotic, they usually do! Try not to stress, I am not worried about getting wonderful shots of your kiddos and family! I always do :)
Locations:
Are you hoping for a more natural setting such as a pretty park or open field? Would you prefer a more urban and trendy location instead? If you don't have a specific spot already in mind I can absolutely suggest places that fit your vision. But I am always open to your ideas and meaningful locations! I want you to love your images and the setting for your session is very important! Below you will find a link to all my favorite spots to help you decide!
Outfits:
This is one of the most fun parts for me besides actually photographing!!! I love helping you pick out the perfect outfits and color scheme for your session! Always consider your session location and what clothing would feel natural there, as well as what season we are shooting in. As far as colors, complimenting colors work the best! You don't need to all be "match-y, match-y" but just colors that work well together. I tend to prefer a more neutral color palette with pops of color. Don't be afraid of smaller patterns or textures as well. When paired with solids they can add tons of personality and visual interest to your images. Please feel free to send photos or run your ideas by me! I love to be a second opinion and help with this as much as I can! You are also welcome to do an outfit change during your session if you are brave! Below is a link to my outfit guide as well!
Tips & Advice:
First, I recommend bringing a small treat or snack with you to help encourage good listening ears! Something not too messy- mini marshmallows usually does the trick for my little one! I would not shy away from some bribery either! Maybe if everyone smiles nicely and behaves they get to play at the playground nearby or get an extra story at bedtime?! Whatever works for your kiddos! If your child is on the shy side or nervous around new people, I would start talking about me and your photoshoot with me, as early on as possible to help prepare them as best as we can. Lastly, I would recommend bringing some extra wipes and possibly a backup outfit for the kids just in case! Someone always seems to spill their sippy cup in the car on the way!
Payment Information and Gallery:
All sessions require a $100 non refundable deposit to book your date, as well as a signed contract. Family Sessions are $450, and the remaining balance is due in full at the time of your session. I accept cash, checks (payable to Emily Metcalf), Zelle (614-648-1994), or Venmo @heyemilymetcalf. You then receive your fully edited gallery within about 3-4 weeks of your session! Clients receive anywhere from 150-180+ images- woo hoo! I also give you color and black and white options! Anything I make black and white (which is just up to my creative discretion), I also give you the exact same image in color! Just because I like it in black and white, doesn't mean you do. So I make sure to offer my clients both options! You will receive your gallery via email where you are free to download/print/share as you please! Easy peasy!
